What is an SRN and where can I find it?

Securityholder Reference Number

Written by Support Team

A Securityholder Reference Number (SRN) is the identification number of your ASX shares. You will find your SRN on most postal correspondence from the Australian registries regarding your shares. For example, your dividend confirmation, or proxy form. Your SRN can be found on the top right of the document.

It usually starts with an “i” or a “c” followed by up to 12 digits, for example “i000123456789”

If you need to check your SRN number to see if it is correct, you can check it using the share registry website under the single holder log in section or by contacting the relevant registry. The following links are for each registry in Australia:

Don’t know what registry your shares are with?

You can search the registry by going to the ASX website https://www2.asx.com.au/, look up the company by typing their name in the search bar at the top. Scroll to the bottom right of the company page, the share registry they use will be outlined here.

If you no longer have your SRN?

You can contact the share registry directly by going to your online account with them, sending an email or calling. They can post you a new SRN in the mail, however, please note this can take a couple of weeks to arrive.
